WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Jets are in the fight of their lives to make the playoffs but head coach Paul Maurice says there is nothing “desperate” about the way the team is playing.

“I would rather use ‘confident’ and play really hard,” Maurice said Friday.

The Jets beat the St. Louis Blues in a shootout Thursday night.

There was no morning practice Friday, although at least a dozen players were on the ice for a skate.

Drew Stafford, who netted the only goal for the team in regulation time Thursday night, said it feels great “being in the hunt.”

The Jets are fighting for a wildcard spot.
