TORONTO – There is outrage in California after a Venice man was caught on camera Monday walking his two dogs when they mauled and killed a neighbourhood cat.

YouTube user Sam Cain posted surveillance video of the incident Thursday on YouTube, accusing the owner of the dogs of not doing enough to stop the fatal attack and sparking an investigation by Animal Control.

“A friend of mine contacted me asking for help with this sad situation where a neighbor allowed his dogs to kill their cat Sally,” Cain said in the video’s description. “Being an animal lover I said I’d do whatever necessary to get this story out and hopefully bring this man to justice.”

The owner of the dogs can be seen in the video struggling to hold his dogs back as they attempt to rush towards ‘Sally.’ Both dogs appeared to be wearing leashes.

The feline initially escaped and ran across the street. But the pair of dogs quickly followed – the force of their aggression slamming their owner into a fence.

As nearby residents watched in alarm, a parked car blocked their view of the fatal blow.

“I was just in shock,” Parra told KCAL. “My heart dropped. As soon as I saw the video, I was just, I don’t know what to say. I was just so full of anger.”

At the end of the video, the dog owner walks across the street holding what was left of Sally. He then dumps her on the lawn of what’s believed to be Parra’s home.

“I go outside, and I see my cat,” added Parra, “and she’s covered in a blanket. I had to get it from other people what happened.”

“Both of [the dogs] should be put down, and that man should be in jail,” Parra told KABC.
