WATCH: Scaffolding comes crashing down due to strong winds in Portland

Bystanders near a busy downtown street in Portland, Oregon, screamed as the scaffolding around a high-rise came crashing down Sunday.

The incident was caught on camera by people who watched in awe as heavy winds blew the scaffolding down as easily as a pile of matchsticks. The street was shut down by road crews shortly after.

According to several reports, the windstorm knocked down trees and power lines across the city, leaving at least 45,000 residents without power.

Some fallen trees were so large that another road was shut down on the southeast end of the city, while a woman had to be cut out of her car by firefighters when a tree fell on her car with her inside.

No one was injured by the scaffolding collapse, but a car parked below took some hard hits.
