WATCH: Raising the Irish flag in Montreal

MONTREAL — It’s a rite of spring and a sign that with the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, warmer weather may be coming soon to the city.

On Tuesday, the United Irish Societies raised the Irish community flag at Place Ville Marie in downtown Montreal.

The flag raising was followed by a mini parade led by a bagpipes and drums band.

It was the first time in several years the flag will be raised, after the reconstruction of the Place Ville Marie courtyard flagpoles.
