Another home game against an old rival, another win.

Shawn Matthias had his first career hat trick and Ryan Miller made 21 saves, as the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Boston Bruins 5-2.

Matthias scored his first two goals in the first period to give Vancouver a 2-0 lead – but unsurprisingly it was his third, six minutes into the third period, that sent the sold-out crowd at Rogers Arena into a frenzy.

Radim Vrbata also scored his team-leading 21st of the season for the Canucks, who have now won three of their last four games. Jannik Hansen added an empty netter with two minutes to go.

The win moves Vancouver to 30-20-8 on the year, third in the Pacific Division. Boston is now 28-20-7, fourth in the Atlantic Division.
