About 30 firefighters are battling a massive overnight fire at the Eagle Ridge Square strip mall on the 2500 block of Barnet Highway in Coquitlam.
The fire broke out around 1:30 a.m.
At least one restaurant has been destroyed by the flames and five other businesses connected to the restaurant have been badly damaged. Luckily, there are no reports of injuries.
It appears the roof has collapsed and the front facade has fallen off.
Fire crews are trying to determine how the fire started. At this point, it’s unclear if the fire is suspicious.
Investigators say it does not appear there are any victims or unaccounted people at this time.
The Barnet Highway at Ioco Road is now open in all directions, but fire crews expect to be on site all day, putting out spot fires.
