WEST KELOWNA – An investigation is underway after a fire broke out at a West Kelowna house. Fire crews were called to the home in 3100 block of Country Pines Way around midnight Thursday.
About a dozen firefighters responded to the blaze. They were able to contain the fire quickly but not before extensive smoke damage was done to the interior of the home.
Three people were inside at the time but all managed to escape unharmed. Two animals were also in the home and both got out safely. The family is now in the care of Emergency Social Services.
The cause of the fire is not yet known but it is not considered suspicious. Investigators are on scene working to determine what led to the fire.
