UPDATE: RCMP report two people are dead and another person is in critical condition. Air Ambulance is en route to the scene, roughly 30 kilometers east of Revelstoke, near Canyon Hot Springs. The Trans Canada Highway isn’t expected to reopen until 11 p.m.
The four vehicle crash happened around 2:30 this afternoon.
Three pick up trucks, one pulling a trailer, and a small car were involved.
RCMP confirm two women died, while another man is in critical condition.
Collision analysts are investigating, and can’t speculate on the cause of the crash.
NEAR REVELSTOKE, B.C. – Highway 1 between Revelstoke and Golden is closed in both directions due to a serious accident according to DriveBC. RCMP are on scene. There are no details on the cause of the crash or the extent of injuries.
Traffic is backed up for kilometers as there is no detour available.
The next update on when the highway will reopen isn’t expected until 5:30 p.m.
