24-year-old Alberta man charged with second degree murder

A 24-year-old man has been charged with second degree murder following the death of a man on Sunday night.

Trail and Greater District RCMP got a report of a man suffering from serious injuries at a home in Fruitvale, B.C. on Dec. 28. Police arrested a male suspect at the scene and the 52-year-old injured man was rushed to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. The man later died of his injuries.

The victim has been identified as Scott Douglass Decembrini.

Jordan Brian Shimell, who is from Rocky Mountain House, AB, was charged with second degree murder and is currently in custody. Shimell will be appearing in Rossland Provincial Court on Jan. 5.

Mounties are continuing their investigation and asks anyone with any information about the incident to contact the Trail and Greater District RCMP detachment.
