Porter flight to Washington, D.C., diverted after smoke in flight deck

TORONTO – A Porter Airlines flight carrying 66 passengers from Toronto to Washington, D.C., was diverted when smoke entered the flight deck and cabin.

Spokesman Brad Cicero says the plane was diverted to Williamsport, Pa., after leaving Billy Bishop Airport at 8 a.m.

He says the smoke was mainly in the flight deck, but that some was visible in the cabin.

Cicero says no one was injured.

He says the smoke was cleared and the aircraft landed safely.

Cicero says another plane was brought in to take the passengers to Washington.
