WINNIPEG — Just before midnight on Christmas fire crews responded to a call at 38 Naskapi Crescent in Winnipeg’s East End.
Fire crews found the fire in the basement and quickly extinguished it in a 20-minute battle. The fire chief on scene told Global News the initial investigation shows the fire may have started in the gas furnace.
Three people were in the home and got out safely before crews arrived. They were treated for minor smoke inhalation and sent to hospital as a precaution.
Initial estimates say the fire caused $15 000 damage. The investigation is still underway.
