Charges laid in death of Wolfville man in Alberta

HALIFAX – Two Alberta men have been arrested and charged in the murder of a Nova Scotia man.

Patrick Whidden, 25, originally from Wolfville, was reported missing December 7.

Whidden’s body was found Sunday in a rural field near Peers, Alberta, which is two hours west of Edmonton.

RCMP said an autopsy ruled the cause of death as homicide.

On Wednesday, Robert Parkin, 20, of Parkland County, Alberta and Santiago Patterson, 20, of Mayerthorpe, Alberta were arrested.

Both have been charged with first degree murder and indignity to human remains.

The men will remain in custody until their next court appearance on January 6, 2015.
