CALGARY – Turkey is a holiday staple for many families. But for students struggling to make ends meet, a holiday dinner with all the fixings may be just out of reach.
That’s why one community in Lethbridge has come together to make sure students don’t go without a fulfilling Christmas feast.
Community members teamed up with the staff at Victoria Park High School this week to raise over $4,500 that will go towards food hampers for the students.
“Every students name is put in to a draw and this year we had enough funds to collect 23 different hampers,” says Trish Syme, vice principal at Victoria Park School.
The hampers come with everything needed to create the perfect holiday dinner, including a turkey. The birds are donated by Save-on-Foods.
