WATCH: A woman who stopped her car on a Quebec highway to help a family of ducklings cross, leading to a crash that killed two people, was sentenced in court on Thursday. Mike Armstrong reports.
MONTREAL- A superior court judged sentenced Emma Czornobaj to 90 days in prison for causing the deaths of André and Jessie Roy when she stopped on the side of the highway to rescue some ducks.
Czornobaj will serve her 90-day prison sentence sentence on weekends.
The judge lashed out at Czornobaj, saying that she showed “unthoughtful, callous behaviour,” and criticized the 26-year-old financial analyst for showing no remorse.
Czornobaj will also be required to perform 240 hours of community service and will not be allowed to drive for 10 years.
Czornobaj was convicted of two counts each of criminal negligence causing death and dangerous driving causing death. She has already appealed her sentence.
