A cat in Prineville, Oregon is counting its nine lives after barely escaping a house fire.
Firefighters battled the blaze as it roared through the home, threatening the lives of the cat and three dogs. The woman and son who live at the home were away.
Neighbour Laurel Russell told KTVZ News that she tried to run in and rescue the animals, but assumed they had died in the fire.

“I tried to go in and get them, but I know better than to open a burning door,” she said.
Thankfully, firefighters were able to let the dogs out after breaking in the front door. They found the cat 15 minutes later, but it seemed to be too late.
The feline lay still on the lawn when Russell noticed the tiniest of movements from its chest.
“I went over, scooped that sucker up and gave it mouth-to-mouth,” she explained.
She was able to revive the cat. The animal-loving neighbour then took the cat and the three dogs to the vet.
Unfortunately, the house was completely lost in the fire, but the family – human and animal – are still together.
