VANCOUVER – The Edward-Cyrus family has now moved into their new home after they lost everything in a fire in late November.

The fire broke out at their home on Renfrew Street after four-year-old Isaiah accidentally knocked over a candle. The father, Jason, works days as a mover and mother Fay works nights at McDonald’s, just to make ends meet. They lost everything in the blaze, including some Christmas presents and they didn’t have any insurance.

Two Vancouver Police officers who investigated the fire took pity on the family and started a crowdfunding campaign. They have raised more than $18,000 already, way beyond the $10,000 goal.

“The first person to donate to the crowdfunding account was the vice-principal at [one of the son’s] school,” said Cst. Adam MacGregor, one of the officers who started the campaign.
