Man dies after being pinned by machine at work

EDMONTON – A man was killed Tuesday morning while tending to a leaking hydraulic line at work in south Edmonton.

The man, who is about 45 years old, was self employed and working at Spar-Marathon Roofing at 9535 62 Avenue.

At around 7:25 a.m., he was trying to fix the line on a Bobcat while the bucket was suspended in the air, not supported.

The bucket came down on the man, pinning him between the bucket arm and the chassis of the Bobcat.

A stop-use order has been issued for the Bobcat. Occupational Health and Safety is investigating.
