Homeowners take to Facebook to warn about new renovation company

One of the owners of a renovation company that went belly up owing millions to customers and contractors is back in business under a new name.

Mitch Selman and Amanda Dougan thought they were doing a public service by posting an online warning on social media about the new renovation company but now they’re being threatened with a lawsuit.

They are just two of more than 100 homeowners, contractors and other creditors caught in the Ecowest scandal.

The Coquitlam home renovation company formerly owned by Aaron Vaughan and Shawn Camp went bankrupt in March, owing more than $2 million to creditors.

Just four months after the bankruptcy, Sean Camp is back in business in Maple Ridge with a new home renovation company called Truridge Exteriors.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

Shortly after Selman and Dougan posted a warning on Facebook they were told to take it down.

“As a home owner, I would want to know that less than a year previous, this guy went bankrupt and was under criminal investigation,” says Selman.

While no charges have been laid, Coquitlam RCMP say the Ecowest investigation into allegations of fraud is not over.

“The investigation of fraud allegations still ongoing,” says Cpl. Chung of the Coquitlam RCMP.

Our calls to Truridge were not returned today. The business address is a home in Maple Ridge where the person who answered the door refused to speak to Global News.
