Stephen McNeil, Brian Gallant meet to discuss ideas for collaboration

HALIFAX – The premiers of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick held their first official meeting on Friday since Brian Gallant was elected.

Gallant led his Liberals to a majority victory in the Sept. 22 New Brunswick election.

Liberal Premier Stephen McNeil of Nova Scotia is in the second year of his mandate.

McNeil says in a statement that he and Gallant discussed opportunities for regional collaboration.

They include promoting the region as a tourism destination and the shared purchasing of pharmaceutical drugs and medical equipment.

Gallant says the two premiers share a number of interests, describing the meeting as productive.
