WATCH: Kelowna girl shaves head for cancer

KELOWNA – Black Mountain Elementary was buzzing with excitement Thursday as one of its students did something courageous. Eight year old Beatrice Evans decided to cut her very long hair and shave her head to help children battling cancer.

“I am going to donate it to a wig company to make it into a wig and then we will give it to kids with cancer,” says Beatrice.

A few years ago Beatrice’s older sister Abby was diagnosed with leukemia and lost all her hair. While Abby’s cancer is now in remission, Beatrice wanted to help others.

“She is determined to do it. I am very proud of her. She is a star,” says Beatrice’s mom Emma Evans.

Beatrice inspired two other students to also get involved. Teagyn Prive and Madison Sandor both decided to cut their long hair during the head shaving event.
