EDMONTON – The extreme sporting event described as “the biggest, baddest winter street party” is coming to Edmonton for the first time ever on March 14, 2015.

Red Bull Crashed Ice is the ice cross downhill world championship.

Athletes skate down an ice track filled with drops, turns and gaps, travelling at over 60 km/h.

In April, the city announced the tour would be coming to Edmonton. On Wednesday, the date was revealed.

After nine years in Quebec City, the event is moving west to the City of Champions.

“Edmonton will feature a one-of-a-kind track that will bring the sport to the next level,” reads the Red Bull Crashed Ice website.

Edmonton will also have the longest track of the season. It will start in the city centre (on Jasper Avenue near 99 Street) and travel down by the River Valley.
