CALGARY – A familiar face in Calgary is making the jump to politics.

Former Morning News anchor Bruce McAllister has announced he will run as the Wildrose candidate in the new riding of Chestermere – Rocky View.

Joking at the announcement on Friday, Bruce said it was the first news conference he had been to without wearing makeup.

Bruce and his family currently live in Chestermere.

The Wildrose party also announced four other candidates on Friday; Grant Galpin will run in the constituency of Calgary – McCall, Gary Bikman in Cadston – Taber – Warner, Ethane Jarvis in Grande Prairie – Wapiti, and Rick Strankman in Drumheller – Stettler.

Premier Alison Redford has told reporters that a provincial election will be called before June 2012.
