Toronto police launch ‘Step Up and Be Safe’ campaign

TORONTO – Toronto police will pay special attention to pedestrian safety this week with the launch of their “Step Up and Be Safe” campaign.

The awareness event, which begins Monday and ends Nov. 9, will focus on education and enforcement strategies.

Authorities say November has traditionally been a month when pedestrians are involved in the most collisions.

As of today, 23 pedestrians have lost their lives due to collisions making up over 66 per cent of all traffic fatalities so far this year.

During the week, officers will make an extra effort looking out for motorists, cyclist, and pedestrians who break road rules.
