Woman, two dogs rescued in Lynn Creek

District of North Vancouver Fire Rescue crews conducted a swiftwater rescue of a woman and two dogs at Lynn Creek Sunday afternoon.

Crews responded to call of a woman caught on a log boom with her dog. The dog jumped into Lynn Creek and the woman jumped in to save him. A second dog also jump in the water.

The rescue was the second incident of its kind in as many days.

On Saturday, crews rescued a dog that jumped over a ledge in Lynn Canyon.

At the time, Asst. Chief Jim Bonneville of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue told Global BC that rescue crews normally don’t respond to dogs in distress but they were worried that humans might try to save the dog and find themselves stuck as well.

Crews say water levels have risen several metres in the last few weeks so it’s a good idea to have your dog on a leash if you’re hiking near the creek.

“Keep your dog close,” Bonneville said Sunday. “We don’t want any mishaps. We got lucky two days in a row.”
