A boat storage facility in Vancouver is badly damaged after an early morning fire.
Fire investigators will spend much of the day today combing through the burned out facility in False Creek.
Greg Lamb with the Canadian International Dragon Boat Society says fire hit a trailer with at least ten OC1 boats inside. The boats are worth $2,000 each.
“That is a big loss for us,” says Lamb.

Also affected is a container with lifejackets, paddles and other equipment.
“Luckily, it was not the docks or the dragon boats. I think that would have been a bigger blow,” says Lamb.
He estimates there’s thousands of dollars worth in damages.
Creekside Kayaks, a rental service housed nearby, was also compromised. Their water craft wasn’t damaged, but their business office will have to find another home for the time being.
While this is the first fire the Dragon Boat Society has dealt with, they’re no strangers to losing equipment.
They have been the victim of several break-ins.
Just last year, thousands of dollars of items were stolen from the trailer, so the society had an alarm installed.
Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
