VANCOUVER – The first Pacific storm of the fall season is expected to bring heavy rain and wind to many areas of B.C.’s South Coast on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Rainfall warnings have been issued for Howe Sound and Metro Vancouver, which are expected to get about 50 mm of rain by Wednesday morning, with more rain still expected on Wednesday.
For the rest of the South Coast residents will see between 20 and 40 mm of rain fall by Wednesday morning.
Western Vancouver Island, especially Tofino, will get 60 mm of rain by Wednesday morning.
Residents are being advised that heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on the roads and to please remove any debris away from storm drains.
The storm will also bring strong winds, particularly on eastern Vancouver Island in Campbell River and Nanaimo, which will see gusts up to 60 km/hr.
The rest of the South Coast will see gusts between 30 and 60 km/hr.
These winds will diminish by Wednesday afternoon.
