Burnaby resident to sing national anthems at Seattle Seahawks game

VANCOUVER – At Sunday’s Seattle Seahawks game their Canadian fans will be recognized.

Burnaby resident Marie Hui will be there, but she will be singing both the Canadian and the United States national anthems for the thousands of fans.

Hui might be a familiar face to some because she also sings the anthem at the Whitecaps game and has been featured in many YouTube song parody videos.

One of them, Seahawks Are Gonna Soar, got the attention of the organization itself.

“It was a parody song for the Seahawks in their fight to get through to the playoffs and then to the Super Bowl,” said Hui on BC1.

Hui is a sports enthusiast and loves the fact that she can combine her love of sports and her love of music.

But she’s not nervous about singing live in front of so many people.

“If it’s broadcast on television there will be millions and millions of people watching,” said Hui. “Singing for the Whitecaps, and this will be my fourth year with them, has given me a lot of practice singing in front of people.”

Some young football players are also going to be showcased during the game.

The GSL North Shore Football League has been chosen to take part in a scrimmage game before the Seahawks play. The Seahawks have also provided a bus and tickets for the team and coaching staff.
