FREDERICTON, N.B. – Advanced polls will be open across New Brunswick on Monday.
Chief Electoral Officer Michael Quinn says a voter information card isn’t necessary to vote, but it will speed up the process.
“You should bring that because that’ll bring you faster service,” he said. “That has a bar code specifically to you when you walk in and present that your processing is much faster.”
The province has 49 returning offices and one satellite office on Grand Manan island. Returning offices offer voters the chance to vote six days per week during the election period.
Elections New Brunswick says as of noon Friday, 12,669 people had voted. Advanced polls began on Saturday, where 33,500 votes were cast.
Liberal leader Brian Gallant stopped in Grand Digue, N.B. to cast his ballot Friday.
He says it’s important for people to vote when they can.
“We need everyone to play a role, voice their opinion, voice their concerns and voice their suggestions,” he said. “Voting is one of the best ways to do that.”
In 2010, 49,000 people used advance polls.
Advanced polls will be open on Monday from 10 am – 8pm.
