Tories say Gallant’s plan to court Alberta oil investment is flawed

FREDERICTON – New Brunswick’s Liberal Leader Brian Gallant’s latest plan to create jobs is being met with skepticism from the Progressive Conservatives.

Gallant says as premier, he would encourage more direct investment from the oil sector in Alberta.

But the Tories say Gallant doesn’t understand the sector if he believes a moratorium on shale gas, as he has proposed, will persuade Alberta to invest in New Brunswick.

Energy Minister Craig Leonard says Gallant is out of touch.

Tory Premier David Alward has highlighted the importance of natural resource development throughout the campaign, including shale gas.

The leaders returned to the campaign trail Thursday fresh off two days of debates.

The Greens promised to bring in a law requiring all government contracts to be posted online.

The NDP’s Dominic Cardy says his party would invest more in the arts community by bringing in a tax credit to lower the costs of rental space for arts and culture purposes.
