TORONTO – A search is to resume today for a Burlington man who disappeared while boating on Lake Ontario.
Ivan Batusic, 47, set sail from the Fifty Point Marina near Grimsby on Friday evening, and went missing after intense thunderstorms rolled through the area.
Niagara regional police said a search-and-rescue operation began when he didn’t return later that night.
The Canadian Coast Guard conducted a marine search and found Batusic’s 10-metre sailboat aground in the area of Jordan Harbour.
Police and the coast guard continued their search throughout Saturday for the missing boater but have yet to find him.
He’s described as six feet tall, 300 pounds with short grey and black hair. He has a goatee and was last seen wearing black cargo shorts and blue sandals.
