RCMP are looking for a Surrey man who went missing from a campground in Nelson Tuesday.

Police say 57-year-old Paul Tayes arrived at the Kokanee provincial campground on Tuesday around 8:30 p.m.

He paid for one nights accommodation after having traveled from Cranbrook. His plan was to camp at Kokanee for one night, and then travel to Summit Lake near Nakusp.

On Thursday, park staff noticed his vehicle and trailer but could not find any sign of Tayes.

All of his belongings were inside the trailer, and search and rescue crews say they don’t have a lot to go on.

Nelson Search and Rescue, along with Creston and South Columbia Search and Rescue and RCMP are now searching the area with a helicopter and police dog. They have been searching for three days already, but haven’t seen any sign of Tayes.
