Gas leak closes portion of eastbound Eglinton Ave. in Scarborough

Toronto fire, police and hazmat crews were called to the possible ammonia leak near Steeles Avenue and Highway 400 on Thursday night.

TORONTO – A gas leak has prompted the closure of the eastbound lanes of Eglinton Avenue East between Brimley Road and Falmouth Avenue Friday morning.

Toronto Fire were called to the scene at 7:57 a.m. to discover a two-inch gas line break reportedly caused by a construction crew.

No injuries have been reported.

Enbridge Gas has been called to cap the leak.

There’s no word yet when the portion of Eglinton will reopen to traffic.
