Caught on tape: Cowardly thieves rob wheelchair-bound woman

Security camera footage from Seattle’s Northgate Mall captured the shocking moment two men robbed a Cerebral Palsy patient confined to a wheelchair, taking off with the woman’s tablet computer.

Carolyn (last name withheld) was waiting with her husband, who is also in a wheelchair, outside the Payless Shoes inside Northgate Mall around 7 P.M. on August 22nd.

They were waiting for a bus to take them back to their assisted living facility when they were suddenly aware they were being followed by two men.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“I didn’t want to engage them because they were kind of scary-looking,” Carolyn told Q13 Fox News in Seattle.

That’s when it happened – one of the men wearing a red shirt and jeans lunges towards Carolyn, grabs her Samsung Nook tablet computer, and takes off.

In a matter of seconds, it was over, and she could only watch as the man assaulted her and made off with her property.

“I was mostly angry because they scared me and made me feel unsafe,” Carolyn said.

Despite being the victim of such a brazen crime, Carolyn actually feels pity for the men who robbed her.

“If they stole from me, it means they’ve got bigger problems than I do.”

Police are hoping someone recognizes the men in the surveillance camera footage. They are encouraging the public to call Crime Stoppers and have offered a $1000 tip for any information leading to the two men.

And, it should be noted, Carolyn’s husband bought her a new tablet.
