EDMONTON – A big section of west-central Alberta is dealing with a disruption of cellular and land line telephone service.

The Alberta Emergency Management Agency says the disruption is in the Clearwater County area and could affect emergency 911 service.

The communities include Rocky Mountain House, Nordegg, Leslieville, Withrow, Condor and other areas.

Officials believe the disruption was caused when a fibre optics line was severed west of Red Deer.

The province is advising people who need emergency services to go to fire halls in Rocky Mountain House, Caroline, Nordegg, Condor or Leslieville.

The government says people can make calls by radio for emergency services from these locations.
