WEST KELOWNA, B.C. – More than 200 teachers and members of the labour movement have gathered in front of B.C. Premier Christy Clark’s constituency office to protest the ongoing labour dispute that has kept public schools closed for the first week of school.
The B.C. Federation of Labour has organized rallies throughout the province, including the West Kelowna protest, to show support for teachers.
“Rally at the Premier’s office to tell her a fairly negotiated contract with teachers is long overdue. BC teachers we are with you. Together we win,” says the post to invite participants on Facebook.
About 200 have gathered at a similar rally in Kamloops Wednesday afternoon.
