HALIFAX – Two Halifax teenagers are facing numerous charges after allegedly stealing two cars and other personal property early on Wednesday morning.
Police first responded to report of two youths breaking into parked vehicles on Jacqueline Purcell Drive in Portuguese Cove around 2:30 a.m. and found several items had been stolen.
About an hour later, officers found a car off Margus Lane in Sambro that matched descriptions provided by witnesses. It was parked next to a pickup truck, and both drivers fled when police arrived.
The two were tracked to a nearby shed and arrested.
Both vehicles had been reported stolen earlier — the car from Timberlea and the truck from Sambro.
Police also recovered the initially reported stolen property in the car.
Two 16-year-old boys from Halifax were scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial youth court Wednesday to each face charges including two counts of motor vehicle theft, two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000 and breaches of previously imposed court orders.
