Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ Stoudermire earns special teams nod

WINNIPEG – For his electrifying punt return touchdown in Sunday’s Labour Day Classic, Blue Bombers returner Troy Stoudermire has been rewarded with the CFL’s special teams player of the week award.

Stoudermire returned a punt 64 yards for his first CFL touchdown in the Bombers’ loss to the Roughriders. He finished the game with four punt returns for 71 yards and seven kick returns for 153 yards.

Stoudermire ranks sixth in the CFL in combined return yards with 659 this season.

The Stampeders’ Jon Cornish hauled in both the offensive and Canadian player of the week awards, while the Riders’ Ricky Foley captured the top defensive honours.
