VANCOUVER — Fire crews were called to the scene of Aldergrove Auto Wrecking on Swensson Avenue, just before 4:00 p.m. this afternoon, where at least four vehicles had caught on fire.

“We could see a large column of smoke from several blocks away,” said Abbotsford assistant fire chief Dave Rivett.

The flames then engulfed a nearby fence and a shop. One man suffered smoke inhalation when he got too close to the burning building, according to Rivett.

He said the crews extinguished the flames quickly, which was fortunate since there were many hazards in the area.

There is no word so far on what caused the fire.
