How Calgary’s Lisa ‘Longball’ Vlooswyk hits the ball so far

WATCH – Lisa “Longball” Vlooswyk show us how she hits the ball so far!

Her nickname, Lisa “Longball” is well deserved. She’s currently ranked top four in the world for longest drive and is a seven time Canadian long drive champion.

The born and raised Calgarian is the first woman to ever hit a golf ball over 350 yards (3 ½ NFL football fields) in competition. She practices at least an hour and a half a day, five days a week.

Vlooswyk used to be a school teacher before realizing her incredible ability to drive the ball. She only started taking up golf in her early twenties and then got into the long drive competitions a few years later.

Lisa “Longball” offers many tips to crank the ball. She says the most important tip when you tee up is how you turn your body when you swing the driver.

“Number one, you need to make a good turn and accelerate through the golf ball. Grip it and rip it!”

Vlooswyk is heading to the national championships in Prince Edward Island this weekend, looking to bring home an eighth title for Calgary.
