Saskatchewan man charged with assault of two-month-old infant

KAMSACK, Sask. – A Saskatchewan man has been charged with aggravated assault after a two-month-old infant was seriously injured last month.

RCMP were called to the Kamsack Hospital on July 29 after receiving a report of a seriously injured infant.

The infant was taken to Regina General Hospital and then to Royal University Hospital for further and ongoing care.

There is no word on the infant’s current condition.

Mounties immediately launched an investigation and on Wednesday, Levar Avery Shingoose, 22, of the Cote First Nation was arrested and charged.

He will remain in custody until his next appearance in Yorkton provincial court on Sept. 4.
