BC Ferries says their Queen of Surrey vessel is ready for service again after a clutch problem knocked it out of service Sunday morning.
“After reinstalling the clutch and undergoing rigorous safety inspections and sea trials, the Queen of Surrey has been cleared to return to service,” reads a statement from BC Ferries. “The regular full summer schedule will resume on the route today, which is great news for commuters and Labour Day long weekend travellers.”
The vessel runs between Horseshoe Bay and Langdale. Service has been impacted since the boat went in for repairs, and five sailings on Sunday needed to be cancelled.
Ferries says several mechanics cut their vacations short to work “around the clock” on the repairs, in time for the busy Labour Day long weekend.
