GATINEAU, Que. – Two people are in hospital with gunshot wounds after an argument erupted into gunfire in Gatineau, Que., across the river from Ottawa.
Police say three people were involved in the argument around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, when one of them opened fire.
The two wounded have non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities say the gunman barricaded himself in a small apartment building (on Rue Tasse).
A Quebec provincial police tactical team surrounded the building and evacuated the rest of the tenants.
At least two nearby schools are closed because of the ongoing police operation.
