CALGARY- An unorthodox idea helped protect a young Calgary family, after a coyote charged into their home.
On Tuesday evening, the Easthope family was inside their Arbour Lake condo when they spotted the animal on the other side of the screen door.

Father David Easthope moved their nine-month-old baby and cat into the bathroom for safety, then opened the screen to try and close the main door. That’s when the coyote charged in.
“When the coyote got in, [David] grabbed our Dyson vacuum,” remembers wife Meaghan Easthope. “And with the knowledge that animals don’t like vacuums, he turned it on and he chased it out the door.”
Police were called to ensure the coyote ran away from the condo complex.
