West Kelowna fire crews from two halls are fighting a grass fire near Highway 97 and Westside Road.
The fire started just before 4 p.m. this afternoon when a Richmond man was towing a boat along Westside Road when a wheel fell off the trailer, rolling into the dry grass and starting a fire.
West Kelowna fire crews were on the scene quickly and have now managed to establish a guard around the fire.
A mobile home park is nearby but no structures have been impacted.
BC Hydro has been called in as the fire did burn intensely at the base of a power pole and crews are worried about the poles integrity.
