Winnipeg hammered by storm

Jeremy Desrochers/Global News

WINNIPEG-Winnipeg and parts of Southeastern Manitoba are under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch.  Strong winds, heavy rainfall and the potential for hail is possible with the cold front that is moving into the area.

Environment Canada issued a warning that in one hour 50-75 millimeters of rain was expected in Winnipeg around 6:00 p.m..

Several streets have been flooded and several lights are flashing across the city.

A section of Polo Park Shopping Centre was under water near Sears at 6:30 Thursday evening.  Crews roped off the area and were cleaning up the water shortly after.

And the underground walkway at 201 Portage is also under water.
