HALIFAX – The search for a missing motorcyclist from Quebec in a remote area of Cape Breton ended Friday after the RCMP said the man was confirmed as being in New Brunswick earlier in the day.

RCMP spokesman Sgt. Alain LaBlanc says they have determined that 55-year-old Francois Brodeur was in the Oromocto area.

A helicopter had joined ground search crews and police in looking for Brodeur, who was reported to have last been seen Thursday travelling in an area from North Mountain and Big Intervale to Cape North.

Brodeur was travelling south to Ingonish from Pleasant Bay with another rider, who was travelling on a motorcycle ahead of him.

LeBlanc says Brodeur’s travelling companion had been on a winding stretch of road for several minutes when she realized he was no longer following her.
