Surrey fire crews rescue woman after car goes down 25-foot embankment

A woman in Surrey was sent to hospital for precautionary reasons after her car went down a 25-foot embankment off the No. 10 highway this evening.

It happened just past 56th Avenue and 180th Street at 6:30 this evening.

According to Surrey Battalion Fire Chief Tom Morgan, the woman escaped the vehicle, but was trapped between the car, thick blackberry bushes and the embankment.

Fire crews used ropes to pull the woman to safety. They aren’t sure what caused the accident.
