Man drags stolen safe behind car, passes cop, gets arrested

TORONTO – If you’re driving down a road dragging a stolen safe behind your car, it’s probably not a good idea to pass a police officer along the way.

That’s exactly what one North Carolina man did.

Ryan Mullins, 22, is accused of breaking into a Swansboro pharmacy Tuesday and tying a rope to a 100lb safe, attaching it to the rear bumper of his car and dragging it down a street.

During his getaway, an officer spotted Mullins’ car, with safe in tow, and began to follow him.

Dashcam footage shows the safe swaying side-to-side as the car speeds down a side road.

“When I pulled up on the scene, I was like ‘you have got to be kidding me!,'” officer Dwayne Taylor told NBC News.
