Cause of West Kelowna House Fire Deemed Electrical

WEST KELOWNA – Fire Investigators have now determined the cause of a fire that badly damaged a home in West Kelowna.

It was around 8:30a.m. Monday when fire crews responded to a home fully engulfed in flames on Paynter Road.

One of the homeowners was sleeping at the time.

She along with her dog were rescued from the burning house by three men from a nearby home who noticed smoke billowing in the air.

Fire Investigators have now determined that the fire started from an air-conditioning unit that was attached to a window.

Fire officials say the unit fell off the window and that likely jammed the motor causing it to short out.
