Car fire spreads to dry brush

KELOWNA– A car fire on a Kelowna road Monday night spread to dry brush prompting several calls to 9-1-1.

Fire crews rushed out Lakeshore Road past Bertram Creek Provincial Park just before 9:00pm Monday.

They found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames and fire spreading into the grass and brush.

Fire fighters first focused their attention on the 40X40 meter fire that was quickly spreading up the slope.

They managed to douse the flames, then turned their attention to the vehicle.

The driver of the car got out safely and was examined by medical personnel as a precaution.
